Letter from Mark White to the Segals Tuesday, December 8, 1998 Dear Mr. and Ms. Segal: My name is Mark White. We met once a few years ago. I was a friend of Anion's. I live here In Houston and I lived very close to Anton in Wakayama City. I received a list of very saddening e-mails the other day and wanted to send you my heartfelt condolences. Anton was very special and if he was as good a son as he was a friend, then you had the best son in the world. The stories I remember most about Anton aren't outrageous or fantastic, but rather that he could always soften your heart with his genuine good humor and positive attitude. I have communicated directly with the teachers at Koyo High School (I was the visiting AET there before Anton came). They were all very shocked by the news and of course very saddened. I reassured them that everything was being done to find and charge the men who are responsible for this tragedy. I told them that the whole JET community has been keeping your family in our thoughts and prayers. They responded that they too will do the same and that they will surely meet any request that you may have or any need that may arise. Please accept my condolences. Mark White
